Self Tape 401 - Week 4

We’re in the home stretch. Here is your final Self Tape 401 homework assignment: find your own side that best showcases all of your rareness. This should be a character that’s perfect for you, that you can lean all of you into it. It’s always good to have a scene or two like this if you need to showcase your skills to a CD or an agent. (Keep it under three minutes.)

  1. Also, please shoot a full-body slate. During your slate, say your name, height, role, and if you consent to COVID testing.

  2. Edit the two together with your best take first, then the slate.

  3. MOV, MP4, or MV4 files. (JPEG is fine for the still shot of your setup.)

  4. Label the file Firstname-Lastname_ROLE (i.e. Captain-Marvel_MESSYJANITOR).

  5. Upload your take and a copy of your side using a file transfer site like Hightail or WeTransfer. (No YouTube or Dropbox).

  6. Email a downloadable link of your self tape file and sides to scott@talktothecamera.com.

  7. Video file size must be less than 120 MB.

  8. Early submissions may get a chance to retape with a redirect.

  9. Due by NOON (PDT) two days prior to your workshop. (Late submissions only allowed with casting permission.)

This week, we’re tackling being geographically rare – and/or living where you want and having a TV/Film career. Most of your reading focuses on how industry is adapting to runaway productions, and the opportunities that exist all around the country. There are a few links on how to find creative ways to pay for the travel so you can work as a local.
